Hi, My name is Julie Murphy and I am the manager of Lyminge pre-school, a role I have been in and loved for 7 years. I would like to personally welcome you to Lyminge pre-school.
We are very lucky to have our pre-school set in an area of outstanding beauty surrounded by wonderful views and a great space to learn and play. We are set in the village hall which lends itself to a large hall, an activity room, a quiet room, newly refurbished toilets, kitchen and disabled access and two gardens. We are also lucky enough to be able to use the large green area surrounding the hall which we use for sports day and physical activities.
We are a team of very dedicated and highly qualified and talented staff. We have staff trained in level NVQ 2, 3 and 4 and Degree level.
We operate at a higher ratio than requested by OFSTED which enables us to spend more time with your child. In our most recent OFSTED inspection we were awarded the high score of “Good” for “Helping children be healthy, Protecting the children from harm or neglect and helping them stay safe, Helping children achieve and enjoy what they do, Nursery Education, and Organisation ” and the highest award possible of “Outstanding” for “Helping children make a positive contribution”. Something no other pre-school setting has achieved in Shepway rural. We know and understand that ‘Every child matters’ and this was reflected in the outcome.
We very much focus on the Well Being of every individual child at our setting; it is our commitment to all children. Happy children make happy learners. We all make sure that it is a safe, warm, encouraging, supportive and happy place to be.
We also strongly believe that a strong relationship with the children’s family helps us get to know the children really well resulting in a greater understanding of each child. Because of our good relationships with families we are able to provide a stimulating and exciting environment for the children to play and learn in.
We are an inclusive practice, ensuring all activities are adapted to suit all the needs of all children. All children are unique and we pride ourselves on getting to know our children very well and being able to provide for individual needs.
We are a busy pre-school and feel proud that we cater for all types of children and their needs. Some children like the calmer areas which we provide in the quiet room and areas of the garden. Other children like to have room to be more physical. We have the large hall where they can ride bikes, cars and run around. We also have an area in the garden for this. We consider our gardens as extended classrooms. Everything we do inside we can also do outside. The children have free flow access to the gardens and go outside everyday.
We have a very close relationship with the local primary school. Our staff have regular meetings with the staff at the primary school and have joint training most recently for example in the current use of phonics. Our children visit for school events, story time and nurture groups all to make the important transition to school as seamless as possible.
We really hope you come and visit us, and I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Lyminge Pre-school once again.
